last weekend in September, tens of thousands of people in over 100 countries worldwide, will be engaged in the largest voluntary environmental event on the planet.
"Clean Up the World" is a project to protect the environment was born twenty years ago in Australia and is organized in cooperation with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). In Italy the event is now in its sixteenth edition and is organized by Legambiente sponsored by the Ministry of Environment.
Il ritrovo è scheduled at 10.00.
The site chosen for the initiative this year has already been the subject of cleanup work by the volunteers. Unfortunately, despite awareness campaigns, the area of \u200b\u200bthe Forest and the Old Fucoli Senese half remains 'preferred' polluters and those 'random' (those who throw rubbish from cars), both 'systematic' (those who massive discharges of waste in the woods). For this Legambiente requires the municipal administration to make more effective control of the area and strengthen the system of sanctions.
During the day Sunday, Legambiente organize also a collection of signatures in support of the application of administrative sanction that punishes those who throw litter in the street by vehicles parked or moving, with fines ranging from 500 to 1000 euro, introduced in 2009.
